I called my OB's office today since I woke up with the worst headache/migrane/tension headache whatever you wanna call it. It was so bad it had me feeling like I was gonna puke and I was very weak. I called the office and they told me to take extra strength tylenol and if that didn't work I could go to the hospital. I thought it was kinda weird since I have read online that it can be a sign of dehydration.
On top of that they didn't even have my appointment in the computer. They had all my information but no appointment. The lady that took all my information when I called didn't even actually work there and scheduled me two weeks in advance even though I told her I was anywhere from 8-13 weeks and was very high risk. They ended up scheduling me for the day after my original appointment. So my new appointment is on the 4th but what really sucks is that it is at 8:30 in the morning. I'll have to get my mom to watch Addy for me since it takes about 20-30 minutes to get there.
The first appointment will most likely be a pap and family and pregnancy history review. So I don't know when my first ultrasound will be. It's kinda frustrating cause I really need to find out how far along I am and my thyroid levels need to be checked. I just feel like i'm not a priority. My old OB got me in within the next week(I need to cancel that appointment tomorrow) and would have had me come in if I called. I have to go with a new OB in the next town over though cause I am not having this baby in our local hospital.
They have no NICU and the nursing staff is not great at all. They don't want you walking the halls so you have to call them for them to bring you your baby which could take up to 40min. In the next town over you can go get your baby out of the nursery if you'd like. They also have a 51 bed Level III Regional NICU which is great and exactly what I need just in case anything happens again this time.
So there's my blog for the day! Hopefully this new OB will prove to be great. I'll post again after my first appointment!

BFP! I'm Pregnant w/ Baby #2!
Well it all started with me thinking I was about to start my period. I felt bloated and crampy and started having my normal intake of sweet, salty, sweet, salty, back and forth. I just couldnt stop eating everything in sight! lol Still didn't really think much of it but I joked about it to my fiance cause he didn't wanna use anything to prevent, he wanted me to mess my body up with pills again.
Anyway, I started getting more tired during the day which I figured was cause I needed to get my thyroid checked. I also was getting uncontrollable gas and moodiness. I had also had a dream that I was pregnant and it was a boy. A dream I only had when I was pregnant with Addy(of course girl baby). So I was beginning to think I was pregnant for real.
August 6th my cousin was down and I went and bought her a mixed drink at our drive thru. I didn't wanna drink if I was pregnant so I went to Wal-Mart and got a three pack box of tests(I bought some from online but they weren't in yet). The first one was positive with a light line that took a little while to show up. The second test could have been positive or negative since there was barely a line there at all. The next morning I used the third one and it was negative. All eventually showed up a definite positive later.
I went into the office and took a test there on the 8th before I left for Houston. Well the test came out as a definite positive. I was for sure pregnant and was due at least by April 4th, 2009.
My fiance thought I was messing with him at first and then realized that we had another baby on the way. We were a little unsure at first since Addy is only 8mths but we are very excited now and hope this one will be our little boy! If so his name will be Alex John.
I took two tests when the others finally came in and as soon as the pee hit the stick the lines showed up! lol
So as of today I am anywhere between 8w6d and 14w5d. I can't wait to have my first ultrasound. This time around I will most likely be on the p17 shot and may end up with a cerclage with routine cervical scans as well as multiple tests for different things.

Addy Pulled Out Her Nose Retainer
Addy had a plastic retainer that the plastic surgeon put in her nose after her cleft lip surgery. It prevents the nose from pulling downward like it usually does as the lip heals and shrinks. We were supposed to go back in six weeks to get it taken out but were waiting on a clinic with the palate team as well to go since it is an 8 hour drive there.
Well yesterday Addy had been extra fussy. I took her out of her bouncer and put her on her tummy on the floor and started patting her on her but to try and calm her down cause she was acting like she was fighting her sleep. I then put her on her side cause that's how she usually sleeps and she started putting her hands in her face which always scares me. Well when I went to grab her hand away from her face she started screaming before I could get it away from her nose.
She had pulled out the plastic retainer that was stitched into her nose. OMG I was sh'n bricks. I was so scared. I looked at her to see if there was any bleeding which there was not. I immediately called the plastic surgeon's office and they were closed. Thank god they have an after hours line that you hold for. I told the guy what had just happened and he got it all down and paged Dr. Wang for me. He called me not too long after and I told him what had happened. He told me it was fine just to throw away the retainer and clean out her nose with peroxide and then put some ointment in it, that it would heal on its own.
So she's fine now with no more ugly nose plug!! Hopefully now her nose won't be so sensitive. She gave me quite a scare yesterday. I'm so glad she's ok. Well here's the new pictures!! Can't wait to go get her 6 month pictures done now!!

Addy's Surgery Update
Ok so Addy has been doing great since her surgery! Her little nose plugs come out in another 5 weeks so I can't wait to get pictures after they are out! Everything seems to be healing very well with minimal scaring.
Well Addy has been standing in my lap like crazy and likes to bounce. She kicks her legs like crazy!! She also started smiling Friday. It is so cute! She loves to smile and talk to her Daddy. She is feeding so good now and is at 4 oz. right now but sometimes throws a fit for more! She has been sleeping through the night since a week after she came home and loves to sleep most of the day. She's just my little bundle of joy!
I haven't been putting her on the floor on her tummy lately but that's cause i'm scared she'll hurt her little face with the surgery and all so i'm a little worried that it'll pull her back in her developmental stages. But I do put her on my chest where she gets to strengthen her neck. She loves to have her head up and look around and is very nosy. I hope that she catches on quick whenever I do put her back on the floor but we'll see.
Addy is still in newborn clothes which is funny cause she is 10lb and the weight says 5-8lb.!! She would fit in preemie pants but they are too short lol. They look like Capri now so I may use them that way. The newborn pants are so baggy on her. Ha she's long but very skinny so the 0-3 month clothes don't fit her unless they are made small such as Gerber. The 0-3 month clothes just don't fit her cause the "spaghetti" strap shirts and dresses just drown her cause the straps are too long for her right now. She just doesn't have enough baby fat. But that's fine cause i'll have clothes to fit her for a long time!!

Addy’s Cleft Lip Surgery Update
Well we got to the hospital around 7:00am to pre-admit since she would be staying overnight. It's usually a out-patient procedure but since she was preemie and has a history of apnea and bradycardias they wanted to keep her overnight. Anesthesia has a side affect of both apnea and Brady's and pain meds can lower heartrate and slow breathing so there was a chance that she could wake up and have to be on the vent after. So it all depended on how she did after the surgery whether she went to the PICU or her own hospital room. We got into the Pre-Op room and she was very calm and content throughout the whole thing. She weighed in at 10lb. 4 oz. fully clothed. Well she got in her gown and we got to her "area" with a curtain and bed and answered all of their questions and they swabbed her for MRSA. The Dr. and Anesthesiologist talked to us and got us to sign papers.
Finally after being in Pre-Op for about 3 1/2 hours we sadly and nervously handed her over to the nurse for her surgery. They called us in the waiting room at 11:20am to let us know that they had her under and had her IV in place and they were starting her surgery. It would take about an hour so I played my psp to take my mind off the time which actually worked LOL An hour passed by and I started getting nervous. Everytime someone came through the surgery doors I would look up to try and find a familiar face that would grace us with good news.
Finally about 1/2 an hour later Dr. Wang, her pediatric craniofacial plastic surgeon, came to tell us that she did great with the surgery and that since her gumline cleft was so small (just a notch) he fixed that as well so that was great news. He told us they would get us in about 20 min to bring us to her in Post Op so I took off to go to the bathroom since I waited the whole time so I wouldn't miss the Dr. talking with us. When I came back Wendall was gone and I was freaking out! I had no clue where he was. Some people told me that they came and in a got him to go to Post Op. So I got all of her stuff and went down the hall till I finally found the Post Op room. A guy had went in and I just followed him and looked around for Wendall. He was right in the first area and was holding Addy. She still hadn't really woken up yet and was out of it. He handed her over to me and I held and just stared at her. She looked nothing like my little girl. She was all swollen and looked helpless. She kept letting out these helpless whimpers that broke my heart. She was doing great though. She had no trouble coming off of the vent after surgery so she would be getting a room and not going to the PICU!
She finally woke up and just sort of stared at me with helpless eyes. We were in Post-Op for 4 hours!! Stupid people told us they didn't have a room. Plus they didn't put that padded thing on her arm over her IV and it ended up coming out and getting blood all over her blankets which freaked me out!! I felt something wet and looked down to find her blood all over the blankets. Wendall got the nurse and she roughly pulled off the tape on her hand. Crazy people!! When we finally got in our room we were roomed with a lady that I had seen early with a small baby as well. Her little one was a former 30 week twin preemie. She was getting her umbilical hernia fixed. But it was very nice to be roomed with someone with similar circumstances. Addy finally got her first dose of pain meds when we got in her room which was 4 hrs after surgery!! Poor baby was in pain. I know next time to ask for something as soon as she wakes up in Post Op.
Addy slept so much but I woke up everytime she made a sound. She woke up at about 3am in pain so I called the nurse for her feeding and then she got her pain meds. She didn't eat very well for the first couple of days. Her first two feeds she didn't do too bad since she took 2 1/2 and then 3 ounces but after that I could only get her to take between an ounce and 2 ounces. She usually takes 4 ounces but she just didn't want to eat. And that was only eating every like 4-8 hrs.
Once we got home she started taking 4 ounces but just awhile ago she only took like an ounce and a half so I'm not too sure about her feedings and just hope that she starts eating a little better.
Her lip seems to be healing so fast! The stitches on her lip are already starting to come off since they are the dissolving stitches. The cut above her lip looks like it was never apart to begin with!! Instead of stitches they put dermaband(sp) on her upperlip so it looks perfect. She has a nose plug that will stay in for 6 weeks. Usually the skin between the lip and the nose shrinks pulling the nose down. So the nose plug keeps her nose open and from pulling downward so her nose will look normal and not have to have another lip surgery later.
All in all she looks and is doing great!! She is still on antibiotics and pain meds but will come off of those in a few days. She started talking on the way home Sunday and it was so cute!! She started smiling too!! Its just so cute I love it! She stands up with help which she's been doing for about a month now and just started bouncing last week!
Well I'll keep you guys updated with pictures! Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and comments!! It has helped us so much through all that she has gone through!!

Addy Update 4/29/08 Addy's Home!!
Here is the long awaited update!! Sorry it took so long but I have been very busy with Addy and trying to unpack everything from San Antonio as well as clean the house, do the dishes, and wash all the clothes that have been piling up since I have been gone. Well as you guys know Addy was supposed to come home early March but she was kept at the hospital for a failed swallow study. They planned to do the second study on her due date March 20th which was about two weeks after the first one but they wanted to try to give her as much time as possible to mature so she would pass the second test. If she failed the second test they were going to put in a g-tube in her stomach which I as well as the Dr. were completely against. So I had a shower to go to back in Louisiana and didn't want the test to be done while I was gone so it was planned for the first week of April.
I ended up going back home a little early cause I needed a break and needed to be home for awhile to calm down and stay sain. So I went home for about a week and rode back to San Antonio with my mom and packed as much stuff as I could to take back home since I knew either way failed or passed swallow study she would be coming home within the next 2 weeks. So we stayed for the weekend and came back Saturday for the shower on Sunday.
The shower was great! A bunch of my friends and family were there and were very supportive! We got so much stuff for the shower! We'll have diapers and wipes for months! lol I was so relieved to see that everyone refrained from buying a ton of clothes!! I got so which was good but not a ton!! I got a lot of things that I really needed more than clothes. I got everything I needed and more!! I could honestly say that with everything we got for the shower we could almost make it without buying anything for the first year!!
Well Sunday March 30th(my b-day) at the shower I called to check up on Addy and she was doing great! She had been doing good with her feedings and was gaining weight ok. That's when I got the news that they wanted me to feed her as much as possible so I could room in with her that Saturday. The Dr. had decided against the second swallow study cause she was doing ok with her feedings and hadn't gotten sick or anything. I was so excited! To think that when I went back on Tuesday I would be rooming in with her that weekend and take her home was such great news!!
So I flew back Tuesday morning and fed twice that day with no trouble at all!! Some of the nurses were having trouble with her dropping her heart rate but she was fine when I was feeding her. That night the Dr. came in and I told her how I wasn't having any trouble feeding her and she said that I could room in with her whenever I wanted. I asked her when was the soonest that I could room in with her and she told me tomorrow(Wednesday)!! I was so excited I couldn't believe what I was hearing!!
I came in Wednesday and brought the carseat so she could have her carseat study. She passed with flying colors and she could finally room in with me! They brought her in the room to me and told me she was all mine!! I was so excited! I took her leads and pulse ox probe off and savored the feeling of her skin on mine. I forgot how it felt to feel her skin! It was so great not to have to wear the stupid gloves and gowns!! I sat that day holding her and feeding her.
I didn't get much sleep at all that night! They came in every 3 hrs with her milk for me to feed her. After I fed her it took awhile to actually get her to sleep. Then awhile for me to get to sleep. On top of that I kept getting up to make sure she was breathing! HaHa Needless to say I got maybe 2 hrs of sleep that night and only had about 3 or 4 hrs of sleep the night before cause I was too excited to sleep. That next morning they came and did her last round on blood tests. We tried to get the picture people to come take her pictures but nutrition came in and explained to me how to mix her milk and we were discharged at 3pm Wednesday April 3rd.
Everyone was so excited to see Addy at my aunt's house!! It was a long awaited day for everyone! That night was a little better than the night before. I couldn't get her to sleep on the bed next to me. I ended up having to put her to sleep in her swing. I did the whole make sure she's breathing thing again! But I got a lot more sleep than I did the night before!
Since we've come home I have slept so much better with her in her bassinet by my side!! I'm not so worried with her breathing now and I don't wake up in the middle of the night to make sure she's still breathing. I have been blessed with a child that sleeps through the night!! She sleeps anywhere from 5-9 hrs at night. Some nights are better than others but I get way more sleep at a time than I did those first two restless nights.
I have been so content having my little girl home finally. I try not to eat it up and spoil her but I have those days when I just sit all day and watch tv while I hold her or just have her lay on my chest. You know what they say. They're only little once! I tend to leave her in her boppy next to me or in her swing. Whichever she'll actually be content in. She's spoiled to her soothie pacifier but can't hold in her mouth for nothing! I end up having to put a blanket or something in front of the pacifier to keep it in her mouth or she ends up just screaming and I can't get anything done. But she sleeps a lot. She's really only up two times a day. Usually once in the afternoon and then of course when i'm trying to go to bed.
She has been growing so fast!! She's gaining about an ounce a day and an inch a week!! She's growing longer faster than she is gaining weight!! She has trouble gaining weight so she's still on the 30cal/oz fortified breastmilk. Normal milk is only 20cal/oz and they tried to bring her down to 27cal/oz but she started losing weight. They usually don't go home on 30cal but they had to with her.
But all in all we are home and we are both doing great!! Her first surgery will be on her lip on May 16th as long as she is at least 10 pounds. I can't wait for her to have her first surgery but at the same time i'm kinda scared for her. Not really scared I just don't want her to hurt anymore than what she already has. But hopefully once she has this surgery she'll be able to hold her pacifier in her mouth and feed by bottle a little better. She has been feeding very good though.
She was on the haberman bottle but I experimented with different bottles to see what would work. Finally I found that she can take the Playtex Drop-In bottle with a medium flow nipple all on her own!! Of course if she gets lazy toward the end of the feeding I always have the drop-in that I can push on to help her finish the feeding. Pretty much like the Haberman how we were squeezing it to help her with her feeding.
Well that's all I have for you for now!! I'll update you after her surgery with pictures of course to let you know how she is doing!!
I ended up going back home a little early cause I needed a break and needed to be home for awhile to calm down and stay sain.

Addy Update!! 3/14/08
Addy is doing alright.. She failed her swallow study last friday so they took her off of all feedings.. But now they are feeding her twice a day and she is feeding without us squeezing the bottle for her!! She just took 30cc on her own and she gets 40 per feeding so she is doing well!! Her next study is on March 20th.. If she fails that one too then we may be talking g-tube which the dr. we have now doesn’t like that at all so she will do anything to help us not go that route. She weighs 6 pounds 9.5 ounces 19 inches long and is almost out of preemie clothing now!! She is doing great with her oxygen levels and no longer needs it while feeding!! So when she does come home it wil be with no oxygen and no monitor!! Yah Addy!! Well I wish I could put up pictures but my laptop is not working right now so I can’t post them.. But as soon as I can I will!!
She has been scheduled for her first surgery with Dr. Wang here in San Antonio on May 16th!! Yes that soon!! His work is just awesome and he does minimal surgeries!! She will have her lip surgery, then her palate surgery at 6-18 monthes, and at 4-5 years before she starts school they touch up the lip and nose if it is needed. At around 9-10 they take bone from the hip and use it for the gumline if it is needed. All in all I really like how he does minimal surgeries.. I was looking at the shriners website for the cleft lip and palate and noticed that they do a LOT of surgeries all the way up until they are in they’re teens. I have not seen any pictures though so i’m not sure what their work is like. I am still gonna sign her up for them though just in case something happens and we end up without insurance.. They also help later on with braces and stuff so that will be a big help. Especially since her insurance is taking a big hit. I’m scared it may get maxed out.. Well that’s all for today!! Talk to you guys later!!

Addy Update 3/7/08
Well Addy failed her swallow test so she will not be coming home next week... I just wanted to cry when I heard this.. She is aspirating into her lungs and isn't trying to cough it up or desating or showing any sign that she is doing it.. So now she either has to wait two to four weeks to "mature" until she can take the test again... Which if she fails that then she will end up getting the g-tube that we are now talking about maybe putting in for her to be able to come home in about two weeks or so.
Not too much to say about it. I just don't see how she could be eating for this long by bottle and not have trouble yet. Oh well I guess it's just not time for her to come home :~( Her test for the down syndrome is gonna come back Monday so I am hoping for good news!! I post something when I find out about the test on Monday!! Nothing more to get through now besides this test and her feedings. Only so much longer before she comes home just don't know how long.. Talk to you guys later!!

Addy Update!! 3/6/08
So yesterday I found out that may have down syndrome or something else. Her craniofacial plastic surgeon was the one that noticed something because of her eyes. Then more doctors looked at her and they got the genetic specialist to look at her. Not sure what that Dr. said yet but they are drawing the blood today to run the tests. If they send the blood to California then it will take about two weeks to get the results back in. If they do it here it will take 48 hrs. So I'm hoping they do it here. I just wanna know now. I noticed it the day before the Dr. said something but just pushed it aside thinking it wasn't possible. Addy is doing great though!! She acts like a "normal" baby so I have no worries.. All I can do is pray for her!! Please keep her in your prayers!! I go see her Dr. for her cleft lip and palate today. Maybe he can tell me a little more about what he saw!!
Ok so I have been trying to take a nap and I keep getting calls from a company asking if I can go see how to work an apnea monitor and that they say I need to go Tuesday since she is getting discharged on Wednesday!! So finally after the 3rd call I get out of bed and its too late to call the NICU cause its shift change. So I wait for 4pm and call. I found out that she could be coming home on Wednesday as long as her swallow study comes out ok!! If not then we will probably take her home Friday!! Either way she is coming home next week!! I so can't wait!!
We take a CPR class on Monday. Learn how to work the apnea monitor on Tuesday. She has the swallow study tomorrow. We're gonna room in with her anywhere from Tuesday to Thursday to get used to being with her!! So she is practically home now!! This is just great!! She will be coming home on the apnea monitor and oxygen just while she is feeding!! We'll get a nurse that comes to the house 2 times out of the week to help us.. I'm gonna go nuts trying to keep the house clean. lol
I also found out that her results for the genetics test will come back in 48 hrs!! The genetic specialist said that some of the measurements were off but its nothing to worry about but he would do the tests anyway just to be safe!! Well I'll keep you guys posted as she gets closer to coming home!!

Addy Update!! 3/4/08
Hi guys!! Sorry I haven't put anything up I have been busy with Addy!! She is now completely off of oxygen and barely gets any of her feedings through her tube. Sometimes she doesn't get any from her tube and she takes it all by bottle!!
She now weighs 5 pounds 8.7 ounces and is 19 inches!! She is doing so well now. She barely ever desats and if she does she pops back up on her own!! Her feedings may take a little time but I don't think it will take much longer for her to start taking all of her feedings. I think its just cause she has so many different nurses feeding her right now and they all try to feed her different. Once her main nurse come back I think she will be fine with her feedings.
So I talked to the Dr. yesterday and he told me that she will most likely be coming home in the next 7-10 days!! OMG this is so great!! I can't wait for her to get out now!! We've started getting ready for her home coming now and are just about ready!!
She did give me quite a scare today though!! She quit breathing and got the most pale and limp I have ever seen her! She choked on some milk and just quit breathing. I think she got too eager cause the nurse didn't really know what she was doing last time she was fed and only fed her 9cc when she usually gets 35cc! But she gave her some oxygen and stimulated her and she came back just fine and then I fed her all but 8cc from that feeding! She feeds fine with me I think the nurses just aren't sure how to feed her since she feeds with a cleft lip bottle. The haberman which you have to squeeze and I don't think they squeeze it.
Well I will let you guys know how it goes!! Wendall is coming over on the 8th to the 10th but may stay longer! So hopefully she does well enough to where he can take her back home on the plane and I can take a train back.
We are taking CPR classes soon and she will have her carseat test coming up to make sure she does ok with sitting up in it.

Addy Update! 2/25/08
Well haven't posted anything in awhile so I figured I would put something up here!! Addy is doing great!! They have started feeding her by bottle using the Haberman bottle used for babies with cleft lips and palates. She seems to do pretty well with that as long as she is in the "mood" for it LOL It's either hit or miss with her bottle feedings. She either takes it or she doesn't!! She's only getting 5cc right now but hey its a start!!
The only down side as of right now is that she scares the crap out of me when she has her apnea spells. She stops breathing and desats with her oxygen levels. My nurse assures me that it is all positional since she does so well when she is in her bed. So I just have to find a position that is comfortable for both me and her. Hopefully I find that or she grows out of it quickly!! My heart drops to my feet and I start sweating under the gown and gloves I have to wear. Her little face just gets "dusky" looking. It gets pale and starts to turn a shade of purple in some places. I try to get her to breathe and she takes like two or three breaths and then stops again!!
But she is still doing so well on nasal cannula!! Two days ago I changed her diaper, gave her a bath, and weighed her all by myself!! The nurse was next door with another baby and said whatever I felt comfortable with so I did it all!! Minus putting on the new leads since I had to have gloves on the stupid things would have stuck to my gloves. LOL She weighs 4 pounds 14.1 ounces now and is 42cm long however many inches that is. LOL Well that's all I have for now but I will post more as she progresses!! She's so close to coming home now and it's scary!! I'll post some more pictures soon!!

Addy Update! 2/14/08
They took Addy off of ET/CPAP today and put her on nasal cannula!! She is now breathing on her own with the help of steroids. She only has 21% oxygen which is what you and me breathe!! This is so exciting!!
I can't wait till I go back and see her!! Wendall flew me home so I could be with him for Valentine's Day and could be at home. She is gonna be so different now that she is off of the vent! I will be able to hear her cry! LOL She has also been off of heat since yesterday! She has been doing great with that as well! She is just all around great. She won't have to have her test on her trachea now since she is breathing on her own!!
I guess as soon as the steroids wear off as long as she's breathing good they'll start trying to feed her. Not sure when they're gonna try. They said about three days after the steroids start wearing off they usually drop with they're breathing so she may end up on CPAP or even back on the vent. So hopefully its neither but if either one I hope she never goes back on the vent!! She's just too big for that now!! She just looks miserable with it. Plus I would hate for her to have to get a trach put in and her have a feeding tube for so long!!
They started putting clothes on her since she isn't on heat anymore!! It's so cute!! It's funny they float on her even though they only fit up to 5 pounds!!
Well that's all I have for now!! See you guys later!! And Happy V-Day!!

Addy Update 2/9/08
Hi again everyone!! I went to see Addy today and when I got there I found out she is on ET/CPAP which is still the tube but it is not breathing for her and she is only on 21% oxygen which is what we breath!! So she is doing so great!! I'm betting it was from me holding her!! She was on 20bpm (Breaths Per Minute) and 25% oxygen and her SATs were all over the place.
I just don't know any other reason she would be doing so well!! She hasn't had a change in awhile and didn't seem like anything was gonna happen! It was like day and night overnight!! Well I got to hold her again today!! So I guess i'll be able to hold her once a day again!!
So now that she is 4 pounds 4 ounces they can do a test on her to see what is affecting her breathing!! I hope they do it Monday before I leave to go back home for a little while. The dr. said it is either bad lungs, Bronchomalasia(sp), or Tracheamalasia(sp). I hope its bad lungs since they can just give her steroids but if it is either one of the other two I hope it would be bronchomalasia instead of tracheamalasia. If its Bronchomalasia she will come home on CPAP. If its Tracheamalasia then she well have to have a trach put in if her trachea doesn't mature fast enough and harden. With the trachea will come a feeding tube or gtube with a button .
So I hope its one of the others!! Thanks again!! Your words of encouragement help me get through everyday!!

Addy Update 2/8/08
So I get to the hospital yesterday and walk into Addy's room. Her primary nurse Trish that I love so much was not there. Instead she had assigned Kim to her case while she was off. I always forget that Fridays start her weekends. Anyway I just got straight to the point and asked if I could hold her before I talked myself out of it. I told her Trish told me I could. Kim said yes that I would have to be very careful so she doesn't get extabated. Then she let me know that Addy has extabated herself before!!! Of course that scared me half to death the thought of her being extabated while I held her and them all rushing in and taking her from me to be reintabated right in front of me! This is why they always have her swaddled.
So first she asks the Dr. first if it is ok that I hold her and asks me if I have held her before. I have held her but never while intabated!! So she comes back and tells me that I can hold her for like 20-30 min cause she'll have to stay close by and has another baby she is taking care of as well. I'd take any time I could get. So she calls the RT to come in and help her move her into my arms.
I put on my gown and gloves and look like a freak!! I sit in the chair with my arm propped on the blankets they put on the chair for me to hold her. I start getting anxious as I watch them get all of her wires together and detach her from the vent for a split second as they move her to my arm. They taped the tubes to the chair that I was sitting in.
So I'm holding her!! It was so odd to have someone so tiny in your arms that barely weighs anything and yet feels so heavy!! It was so nice to finally hold her again! Last time I held her was a month ago. She was 2 pounds 4 ounces then so big difference. I sat there with her and she started opening her eyes which she never does. They are dark blue right now which I know every baby's eyes are dark blue for awhile but I still can't help but hope that she gets her daddy's bright blue eyes instead of my brown ones!!
She desated for awhile which is normal since she doesn't like to be touched but as soon as they stoped messing with her and she was in my arms she shot up and started high sating like 95-97. Her parameters are 82-94 right now. She was on 25% oxygen and they ended up having to take her down to 22% while I was holding her which is amazing!! We breath 21% so 22 is so great!
She seemed to love being held. Spoiled already LOL I just started at her forever. She was passed out cold! Every so often she would start squirming and turn red which is when she would of course desat. She had so much gas haha. Once she was done with all that though she was hi sating again. So I look up at her monitor and i've been holding her for 30min already. Kim just asked if I was alright and then went back to her charting. I ended up holding her for the whole visiting period I was there which was like an hour and a half!! It was so great!!
She did so well with it and really seemed to enjoy it! I can't wait to hold her again and can't wait for dad to be able to hold her!!

Addy Update! 2/6/08
Well Addy's new and unimproved condition is that she has Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus(MRSA). Its pretty much a staph infection. She is not symptomatic but has tested positive from her nose.
So she is now in her own room and will be there until she leaves. It's kinda cool that she has her own room but it sucks now that I have to where a gown and gloves if I want to touch her!! OMG how does that even feel like you are touching your baby?? I won't be able to feel her skin. This just sucks. The baby that was across from her also has it and is also in containment in the room next to her.
So she is 3 pounds 14 ounces now and gaining. Her feedings are at 7cc/hr continuous and they are having to put her OJ tube further down her intestines and put in another tube to drain the bile out of her stomach cause for some reason it is coming back up and they said the only way that happens is if her intestines is blocked.
They already changed the tube from 8 french which was huge to 6 french. They did have her on the NG tube but put her on the OJ tube cause she was having reflux.
As of right now we are waiting for her to go up to 2 kilo which is 4 pounds 4 ounces so they can check her trachea. They said the breathing problem is either bad lungs which I am hoping what its is since it can be treated with steroids or it is something called either Bronchomalasia(sp) or Tracheamalsia(sp). If it is Bronchomalasia then she will only have to be on C-PAP maybe even when she comes home because she'll need extra pressure so keep open the smaller tubes that brach out open for her to breath. If it is Tracheamalsia then she will require a trach to be put in for her to breath until the trachea matures and gets hard so it does not collapse when she breathes.
So it is a wait and see game right now with her. I am just glad that I know what is going on and what I am looking at dealing with. I have been told that she can't go to daycare because she can only be around one other kid at a time when she comes home which I am very relieved with!! My fiance wanted me to go back to work but I didn't. She also has to be the only baby that the person is taking care of. So I won't be able to work for the first 6 mths to year which is great!! I won't miss anything!! So I have also been told that she will have at least 6 dr.s!!! OMG I will be so busy with her lol
Well that's all I have right now.. Thanks everyone for checking on her and asking how she is!! It's great to know that it's not just me that is caring about her!!

Addy Update! 01/29/08
Good news!! I just got back from seeing her and and she is doing great!! I happened to look at her vent monitor and noticed the her BPM(breaths per minute) was down to 17 from 22. That is so great!! Once she get down to like 5-10 she can come off of the vent!! Which means I can hold her!! I talked to the dr. tonight and he said thay he thinks she may have something called Bronchomalasia (sp). This is when the bronchial tube that you breathe with is very weak and the cartlage rings that are supposed to expand when you breathe actually collapse which is why she is requiring so much pressure in her lungs to keep them open. This makes me feel alot better knowing what is actually going on. I am hoping that this means she won't get a trach cause he said she would probably end up coming home on the CPAP. She also weighed 3 pounds 6 ounces yesterday and 3 pounds 10 ounces today!! I don't know how accurate that actually is but she is gaining weight!!! She looked so good today and they changed her bedding so I got to see her outside of her blankets!! They always have her wrapped up cause she is very active and trys to pull at her tube. Well I just wanted to let you know what was going on with her and that today is a good day finally!!!

Update!!
The doctor found out that Addy's infection is pneumonia. He said that they were going to put her on a third antibiotic and something to counteract the yeast. He said that within the next couple of days when her lungs get a little better they are going to take her off of the ventilator. Hopefully Wendall gets to hold her before he goes back home!!!

Update on Addy
As far as they can tell from the EKG there is nothing wrong with her heart. They said that the irregular heartbeat is caused from her being sick. We do the same thing when we're sick too.
Her belly is now looking much better and is not nearly as big as it was. They ruled out the NEC which is a bowl infection that can make her intestines die off. They found that her tummy was full of air from the CPAP mask that she was on.
She is being watched very closely though with the infection and they are trying to figure out if it is viral or not since influenza and RSV is going around right now. They are going to do an ecocardiogram on her heart today just to be safe and if the infection gets worse they are gonna isolate her from the other babies and put her in her own room.
She is still on the ventilator and will stay that way until her infection goes away and her breathing gets better(she stops having so many apnea episodes).

Addy Isn’t Doing Too Great
I got a call today from the NICU telling me that Addy wasn't doing too great... She had a bronchial spasm which wasn't too bad but then she kept having them and they eventually had to bag her cause she couldn't breath. So now she is back on the vent.
She also had a large girth for her stomach so they took her off of her feedings and put her back on IV fluids!! I'm so terrified she's gonna starve!!!
They also found that she has an irregular heartbeat and that she may have an infection which may be the reason she is having trouble breathing.
So hopefully once the infection passes she will come off the vent and go back on her feedings.
As for the irregular heartbeat I will be asking the doctor or nurse when I get there what that may be a sign of.
I just hope she gets better soon. It scares me so bad to see her struggling to live!
